Rostov
Hotels
There
are not many hotels in Rostov, but all of them are quite cheap.
You can get a bed in a dorm for as little as 70 roubles ($2.4) a
night, or you can live in a nice guesthouse for $15 for four people.
Two of the three Rostov hotels are located in the centum, just next
to the Kremlin. One hotel is outside of the centum.
The hotels
were personally checked by WayToRussia.Net team in August 2001.
The prices are in $ US.
HORS
HOTEL-GUESTHOUSE.
An artist and his mother accommodate people in two independent parts
of their house, which is also an art gallery. One part is a small
clean room with two beds, the size of a train compartment. There
are a sink , a shower, and a toilet in the corridor shared with
the other room. The room costs 250 roubles ($8.7 US). The other
part is like a little appartment, there are two rooms and four beds,
there's also a cosy kitchen you can use. A toilet, a shower are
shared with the other room. The apartment costs 450 roubles ($15.7
US) for a night. It feels like staying in a cosy datcha (typical
russian countryside house)
Description.
You'll find this pretty wooden house walking along the right side
of the Kremlin to the Nero lake (озеро Неро). An old woman and her
son live there, she likes to look after her pretty garden (through
which goes a path to the entrance of the house and to the lake),
and he is an artist painting with enamel. As is written on several
signposts on the wooden house, this place is both an enamel museum
and a guest house. If while staying there you feel like trying to
make some art objects in the traditional technique, the man can
help you to use his enamel oven.
Every July they organise a symposium around this enamel technique.
For 10 days, people from the whole world join there to discover
better enamel and share their own knowledge. The participation to
the symposium and the accomodation costs $10 US for a day. They
like people to apply as early as January.
WayToRussia.Net advice: This is a very friendly place
and not expensive, the best place to stay in Rostov.
