Rostov Transport

Rostov Veliky is an ancient calm Russian town, 180 kilometers north of Moscow, and 60 kilometers south of Yaroslavl.

BY TRAIN.
A railway from Moscow to Yaroslavl goes through Rostov. There are around 4 trains daily to / from Moscow, 3-4 trains to / from Kostroma, and 1 direct train to Kostroma. If you miss the train to Moscow, you can get by a local train to Alexandrov (which is between Rostov and Moscow - 120 km from Moscow), and then take a local train ('elektrichka') to Moscow. The train station is located on Moscow - Yaroslavl motorway in the same building as the bus station and is outside of the city centrum. The Kremlin is within 15-20 minutes walk from the station.
There are automatic lockers at the station, or you can ask the "person on duty" at the station to keep bags for you for free (if you take them back until 7pm).
