Luxurious Accommodation: 4- and 5-Star Hotels
in Moscow, Russia

Note: The prices (in $ US) given are per room, not per person (unless other currency is used by the hotel). The hotels are listed in alphabetical order. If you have any comments about the hotels, please, send us a message through the Feedback form.

Ararat Park Hayatt Hotel One of the newer 5-star hotels in Moscow (built in 2004), Ararat Park Hayatt is located in the very heart of the city, near Bolshoy Theater, former KGB headquarters,
Ararat Hotel, Moscow

and within a 5-minute walk from the Kremlin.
Inside, there's one of the best Armenian restaurants in town "Ararat" (the name of the famous mountain in Armenia), as well as very nice bars with great views on Moscow historical center (try the bar at the top floor especially).
All rooms are equipped to the highest standard and have stylish interiors. The price is $330 for a single, $420 for a double (if booked through agencies), and go up to $500 per night if booked directly at the hotel.
The rooms have a standard set of facilities, and there's wireless internet (wi-fi) connection at the building.

Arbat Hotel
Way to Russia Reader's Offer: 25% off rack rates on single rooms (see below).
Essentially this is a yellow brick apartment block which now has pretensions to housing a four star hotel. The glitzy facade has been glued on to the outside of the building

Arbat Hotel Moscow
and space has been out of the brick for an imposing front door. Inside you would hardly know it was the same building: The renovation job is quite amazing. The foyer is classy and replete with chandeliers and a lobby bar. The hallways are wide and decorated in a stately manner.
Standard rooms in Arbat Hotel cost $240 for single or $270 for double while the renovated rooms are $260 and $280 respectively. The standard rooms are decent, the only major difference being that they have no carpeting. You pay mainly for the location at this hotel although it does have some extra perks such as satellite and cable TV, four conference halls, a restaurant and a sushi bar. The business center is small and the prices to use it are high. Buffet breakfast is included in the room price and all major credit cards are accepted except Maestro.

Art Hotel
Way to Russia Reader's Offer: 30% off rack rates (see the review).
A quaint little hotel in an odd location right next to TsSKA stadium and not really close to anything important. From the outside it looks like the sort of cheap resort you might find just outside a city. Inside, the plants, fish and trees which all live in the lobby make for a very peaceful setting. Art Hotel
Art Hotel Moscow

has overpriced rack rates (that is, if you just show up), with a standard single costing 200c.u. set at the mystifying exchange rate of 37 rubles per currency unit (so to get prices in $ US add 30%). Doubles go for 230c.u. while the larger luxury suites cost 300c.u. and 330c.u. respectively.
We offer a deal on our online hotel booking system where you get a single for $150 and a double for $200 (and no confusing "c.u.").
A full buffet breakfast is included as is use of the business center, conference rooms and sauna.
In keeping with trends the hotel offers a sushi bar as well its “Mystic Bar” and there is even a beer garden during the summer months. Airport shuttles are provided for 40 euros to Sheremetyevo 2 and 80 euros to Domodedovo. The hotel also offers visa registration. About seventy percent of the clientele are German which adds to the mystery of who exactly comes here and why. Admittedly, this is quite a nice hotel. It just seems completely out of place in Moscow.

Or take trolleybuses #43, #65 or #6 from the metro and get off at the fifth stop.

Baltchug Kempinski Hotel
This 5-star hotel is located in a 100-year old building facing the Kremlin and Red Square and next to Moskva river bridge. It was restored in 1992 and became one of the most comfortable hotels in Moscow. Baltchug is a favourite with celebrities who come to Moscow, but this image comes at a price.
There are 7 floors in the hotel, 234 rooms, 2 restaurants (Japanese and European cuisine), a coffee shop with a bakery, two bars, a fitness center (with a pool, a sauna, a gym), a casino, boutiques, a business center (services should be paid extra), conference rooms, and a parking lot.
A single or double room including breakfast costs about $300 through travel agencies and $504 if purchased directly at the hotel. The rooms are richly decorated with wooden furniture and have a TV, a telephone, air-conditioning, a safe, mini bar, fax & computer facilities.

Golden Apple Boutique Hotel
It’s hard to find many flaws with the Golden Apple. Proclaimed as the first and only boutique hotel in Moscow, the owners obviously take a good deal of pride in the hotel’s design. Housed in a 19th Century building, the interior has a modern,
Golden Apple hotel Moscow
artistic motif and the foyer is replete with a large golden apple sculpture. Each floor is painted in a different color of the rainbow. Which is all very nice but perhaps not worth the prices of 300c.u. for a standard room, 340c.u. for superior or 380c.u. for deluxe (1C.U.=32r). Breakfast and VAT (18%) are not included. So, to get the price in $ US add about 30% to the prices above.
However, the hotel justifies its prices by its location in the heart of Moscow and its quality facilities including free gym, Jacuzzi and sauna and a paid meeting room and business center. And the rooms are fantastic, though there is not a huge difference between standard, superior and deluxe aside from some extra furniture and a separate bath and shower. If you have a spare 1200-1400c.u. per night to throw around the penthouse apartments are spectacular. The Golden Apple Restaurant has also gained quite a reputation in its short existence. On the downside, the receptionists don’t speak English as well as you would imagine and seem to be continuously preoccupied with whatever goes on in the room behind the reception desk.

Area: Moscow Center, metro Pushkinskaya. Facing the statue of Pushkin in Pushkinskaya Ploshchad, take the street at the far left of the square (Malaya Dmitrovka) and walk for two blocks. But if you’re staying here then you’re probably not taking the metro…

Holiday Inn Hotel Lesnaya
You pretty much know what to expect from the Holiday Inn. This one opened in March 2005 so is more modern than some of the others you might find around the world but is of a similar
Holiday Inn Lesnaya Hotel in Moscow

standard. The reception area is spacious and there is an ample supply of receptionists ready to help. A cafe/bar is the main feature in the lobby which also features an expensive souvenir shop, ATM and currency exchange.
The single rooms are priced at $390 (9900r) per night, doubles - $450 per night, while the executive rooms cost $550 (15000r) inc. VAT (18%). The hotel has triple rooms as well, which can be interesting for families. These are rack rates: if booked through a travel agency expect to pay $330 for a single, $410 for a double, $440 for a triple. The breakfast which can be purchased for $22 (600r). The corridors and rooms are plush and nicely decorated. Amenities include satellite television, hairdryers and coffee and tea makers. High speed internet is available in each room for $15 an hour or $25 per day. The hotel also has a conference center with nine meeting rooms, a business center, restaurant and gym. Mainly frequented by businessmen, if you have the money the rooms are worth the price.

Katerina-City Hotel
Way to Russia Reader's Offer: 50% off rack rates on singles, 40% off on doubles.
A four star hotel with a cozy, homely feel, Katerina-City hotel is highly recommended for business travelers or tourists who desire comfort. It is conveniently located next to Riverside Towers business center, PriceWaterHouse Moscow headquarters, and Paveletsky station (fast train to Domodedovo airport every hour). Swedish ownership and a partnership with IKEA means rooms are decorated in the colors of the Swedish
Katerina hotel Moscow
flag and furnished in an efficient and compact style. The hotel features a great fitness center with two saunas (Finnish and Turkish), Jacuzzi and gym. A hairdresser, solarium and beauty parlor are also on site and the hotel offers complimentary river cruises in the summer months. But the business facilities are perhaps the biggest drawcard with six conference rooms including one on the top floor with skylight and great views.
Tickets for travel, events, tours and excursions can all be organized and bought in the reception area. For those looking for a more unique experience there is a renovated 19th Century building attached to the main hotel which is especially popular with Japanese guests. The spacious rooms are well-equipped with satellite TV, desk, internet connections and hair dryers and some have great views on Novospassky Monastery. But the hotel is quite pricey. The rack rates (what the hotel charges clients who just show up) are quite high: a single standard room costs $400 (11000r) while the bigger business class rooms cost $500 (14000r) and doubles go for $550 (15000r). When booked through travel agencies beforehand, expect to pay $180 for single, $230 for double. Buffet breakfast is included in the Stockholm restaurant which also does buffet lunches.

Metropol Hotel
This 5-star hotel run by a Russian company is located in a beautiful art noveau building, next to Bolshoy theater and Red Square.
There are 5 floors, 375 rooms, 5 restaurants, 2 bars, a cafe, 3 different restaurants, a fitness club (with a gym, sauna, and swimming pool), a bar, a business center and conference halls. One can use the fitness club for free, but an extra fee should be paid to use the business center and conference halls.
A single room costs $260 ($225 through travel agencies), a double room $310 ($260 through travel agencies). Each room has a unique retro style interior and standard 5-star amenities, such as a TV, a telephone and a refrigerator.

Mariott Grand Hotel
This is a 5-star hotel located near Pushkinskaya square, with single or double rooms from $416. Facilities include three restaurants, a fitness club, a business center, a conference room, and polite, multi-lingual staff.
The hotel may be a bit too pricey for individual travelers, but if your company has a corporate account with the Mariott chain, a 5-star room for $150-$200 can be a good bargain.

National Hotel

Located in a beautiful building in front of the Kremlin (and just next to Intourist, which is being renovated), this 5-star hotel has been for one hundred years the favourite of worldwide celebrities who come to Moscow. Bill Clinton stayed here when he went to Russia in the 80s. A single room costs $350, a double is $450. It has a standard variety of services and amenities, including a famous restaurant.

SAS Radisson-Slavyanskaya Hotel

This 4-star hotel is not as nice as its 5-star counterparts, but has all the practical facilities like business centers, conference halls, etc. There are also restaurants, bars, boutiques, and even a very popular America-Cinema movie hall, where you can see movies in English. A single or a double room costs $275 at the hotel.
The location is not central, but is very close to Arbat street. Kievsky railway station is nearby, so the view is not so nice and it is quite hectic outside.

Hotel Tatiana
Another four star hotel in the Paveletskaya area, the Hotel Tatiana is another quality option for businessmen. The large foyer with skylight is the major focal point of the hotel with the standard rooms (9520r) having windows facing into the lobby. The superior
Tatiana hotel Moscow
rooms cost $330 (10030r) and have their windows facing onto the street. Buffet breakfast is included. The rest of the time the hotel’s restaurant serves up Russian, Spanish and European cuisine. The rooms have satellite TV and wireless internet for $15 an hour or $25 per day. There are five conference halls and travel services such as event and tour bookings are available in reception.
Essentially the facilities here are very similar to what is offered at Katerina-City Hotel. At one time both these hotels shared the same owner. The major difference is that the rooms at the Hotel Tatiana are a little smaller and a little darker and the business facilities are a little less impressive. But all of this is reflected in the prices which are a little lower.

The 4-star hotel located at the periphery of Moscow center, quite far from the metro (10 mins walking) and hard to find.
