American Restaurants in Moscow
American restaurants in Moscow usually come in two categories: burger joints and steakhouses. The burger places are always a good option for a cheap feed while the steakhouses are pricey but have the best cuts of meat youÕll find in RussiaÕs capital.
CorreaÕs.
Not exactly American food but run by a New York chef, this chain has become popular by serving quality meals at reasonable prices. The menu options are a mix of modern American and European cuisines as well as a few with Asian influences. The breakfasts are well worth a look with big servings and fresh
ingredients at an average price of about 230 rubles ($8). The rest of the day main courses cost about 500 rubles ($18) but there are lots of cheaper options such as pizzas and sandwiches. Healthy food made from good quality ingredients at affordable prices is a rarity in Moscow and so CorreaÕs has found a niche for itself. The meals always come with more than you expect in terms of garnish. The outlets are modern and make good use of natural light which creates an even more wholesome dining experience. CorreaÕs also does delivery and you can buy a range of sauces, coffees, teas, desserts and cakes at its cafes.

Goodman Steak House.
A steakhouse that doesnÕt go for the usually cheesy decor associated with these restaurants in Moscow. Goodman is outfitted in a classy but understated way with comfortable seats and dark wood paneling. The waiters even wear the customary white shirt and apron get-up which altogether creates a traditional dining experience which is seen less and less frequently
these days. As for the food, the steaks are obviously the main draw card but they also have great ribs and plenty of other meat-heavy dishes. And the portions are a good size ų big enough to inspire a bit of shock when they are first served. Also has an extensive bar menu which includes a good range of spirits and liqueurs. But at $4 for a 500mL Sibirskaya Korona and between $5-$9.50 for imported beer, the prices may also be a bit of a shock. Otherwise, the restaurant has professional staff and a good atmosphere: quiet enough to talk without raising your voice but with an appropriate level of bustle for a restaurant. The background music is usually Ō60s and Ō70s soul and blues. Expect to pay about $50 per person.

Hard Rock Cafe.
Opened at the end of 2003 this place become popular immediately,
though the meals are disgusting and overpriced and alcohol beverages are no good either. People come there to listen to the hits of 1950-1990, dance and get fun. Visitors are mostly 20-30 years old Russians and foreigners. Go there if you want to get drunk, meet new friends, have good time, or just put the add Moscow to your worldwide Hard Rock cafe collection (if you're into it).

Louisiana Steak House.
An expensive restaurant that trades on LouisianaÕs history as a cultural melting pot by serving American, Mexican and French influenced food. An extensive menu will make it hard to choose. Their Mexican section is filled with tasty options which can be spiced up to your preference. Most of their meat comes from New Zealand, Australia and Argentina and is sent directly without
refrigeration. They also stock Russian beef for those on a budget. Perhaps the best steaks you will taste in Moscow, but you have to pay a packet for them. The Louisiana Steak House has tacky decor but a fairly lively atmosphere. The indoor seating area is quite small so itÕs a good idea to book a table. This is a great place to go in the summer months when the courtyard is open and their barbecue is in operation. Staff run the gamut from very friendly to complete wankers. They ought to understand that many foreigners (at least those from North America and Australasia) could have the same meal in their own countries for a fraction of the price so the service really needs to be top notch. Expect to spend about $80 per person, although you could get out of there for a bit less.
Address: Pyatnitskaya Ulitsa, #30 View on Map, Bldg. 4, metro Tretyakovskaya. Tel: 951-4244. Open 11:00-1:00.
Starlite Diner.
Perhaps most renowned as the best place to get a meal late at night. Their large burgers and hearty meals go down a treat after a heavy night of drinking. The breakfasts are also worth a look if you arrive there early, or late, enough. Designed in classic diner style ų plenty of
booths with bright, red, vinyl seat coverings and various Americana on the walls. There is a small outdoor eating area which doesnÕt add a whole lot to the place but can be nice during the summer months. Waiters arenÕt of the highest caliber but are usually nice-looking and wear short skirts. The locations are quite convenient and the food is good value - not great but big enough to justify the prices. There are also a few screens around the place to keep you entertained if the late-night conversation is lagging. Average bill per person is about $25.

American Bar and Grill.
Standard American-style food with basic wooden tables and uncomfortable chairs, supposedly in the style of a traditional steakhouse. Always crowded and service is often slow as a result.

GuillyÕs.
More of a steak restaurant than an American restaurant. Set in the basement of an old and slightly rundown building on the ugly end of Stoleshnikov Pereulok, the restaurant doesnÕt exactly look impressive from the outside. Inside you will find a nice restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, although management seems to severely lack business sense. Their beef is brought from Australia and is not cheap at about $40 for a steak.

Serves up some of the best American-style pizzas to be found in Moscow along with cheap garlic bread and beer. Also does delivery to the areas near their outlets.

Uncle SamÕs.
CanÕt complain about value for money with big servings, decent taste and relatively low prices. Can complain about the service with waiters often rude and/or incompetent.
