Moscow had an amazing contemporary art scene in the 90s, but it's only recently that it started to become interesting again. Fabrika / Aktovy Zal is a good spot for contemporary dance, cinema and performance, while DOM is the legendary experimental music space. Garage, opened in 2009, is becoming the main contemporary art center in the city, but Winzavod still hosts many art openings and parties. Praktika Theater is the main place for contemporary theater and they also host various workshops. A good place to meet people is the new Messto venue and Laboratoria – the space for multi-media art. FAQ cafe, Proekt OGI and Solyanka clubs occasionally host arts events as well.
