Special places, open-air party venues, concert halls:

Here we list the best places to go out for a few drinks and have a lot of fun. Many of these bars and pubs also have parties every evening with latin-american music (like Papa John's) or dance-pop (like Hungry Duck). Phlegmatic Dog has good DJs with house and techno music every night, as well as internet access.

Luzhniki Stadium.
Actually the most advanced stadium in Russia, this place often features massive concerts, especially during the Summer.
Look out at Moscow What's On guide for the upcoming events. Tickets can be bought at special ticket stalls found at almost any metro station.

Address: Moscow, Luzhnetskaya naberezhnaya, #25. tel.: (095) 201-0361 (location:metro Sportivnaya (red line, 1 stop from circle to the south), exit the station, walk straight ahead to Luzhniki stadium)

Hermitage Garden. A pleasant park in the center of Moscow, where you can find a few restaurants, a soothing Chinese tea ceremony place, Novaya Opera theatre and a ice-skating ring during the Winter.
Often hosts cutting edge open-air performance shows and contemporary electronic music concerts.

Address: Karetny Ryad, #3/7 (in front of Petrovka 38), tel. (095) 747-8979 - View Map - (location: metro Chekhovskaya, for directions see the map).

Ethno-Life Open-Air Field.
Ethno-life is a regular event organized by the Russian new-age community. It's something like the German Fusion Festival, but with a bend towards ethnic and hare krishna stuff.
Boarhouse Moscow

Every Summer in July (this year, 2004, it's 16, 17 and 18 July) they create a huge camping and concert field outside of Moscow, near Yakhroma town, where you can unite with nature listening to the ethnic vibes, doing early morning yoga classes and eating cheap vegetarian food.
The camping is free, food costs about $5 per day maximum.
Ethno-life is also organized at St. Petersburg (30/07-1/08) and in Crimea (south of Ukraine - on 21 to 29/08).
Address: Moscow Region, Yakhroma town, Ethno-Life. To get there, go to Savelovsky railway station (metro Savelovskaya) and take a train (elektrichka) to Yakhroma (about 1h 15 m). Then take a bus which has "Ethno-Life" plate on it (written in English). If you have any problems, just look around for ethno people and ask them for directions. Organizers' contacts: freespirit@mail.ru, telephones:
(812) 115-17-88, (812) 520-86-19, (095) 921-20-91, (095) 928-59-05, website: www.ethnolife.ru

Gorky Beach. A place in the center of Moscow that is supposed to be like a beach, but does not give this impression. Located in famous Gorky Park (Park Kultury) it has a large attraction center as a neighbor. Sometimes features famous foreign and Russian DJs, most of the time it's just a good open-air chillout place in the center.
Address: Moscow, Krymsky Val, #9. tel.: (095) 542-0244 (location:metro Park Kultury, (over Krymsky bridge and to the right, opposite to the new building of Tretyakov gallery).
