Angleterre Hotel. A 4-star hotel, which wouldn't even get 2 stars somewhere else. A traditional old building, but uninteresting interior and stuffy rooms. Astoria Hotel. A 5-star hotel next to Angleterre. Quite nice old building with long long history and all the necessary overpriced facilities, good interior, and sometimes even antique furniture. The only problem is that it costs too much for what is offered. You'd pay at least 3 times less elsewhere. A single rooms costs $360, a double room $400. Breakfast not included. Europa Grand Hotel. A standard western 5-star hotel in the centrum of St. Petersburg. Rooms start at $350. Every room has different interior, there's a tv, a telephone, a table, a chair, two beds etc. inside.

Nevsky Palace Hotel. A 5-star hotel in the centrum of the city. Rooms start from $220, a breakfast is additional $25, these are doubles with big double beds. A hotel also runs a business center, where one can rent office equipment or a conference hall for half a day for $150.

Helvetia Hotel & Suites.
When you look at front fa­ade of a building you first see a huge Swiss flag, only then you realize that hotel actually shares building with a Consulate General of Switzerland. ThatÍs already a statement of solid reputation and quality; by the way, hotel management is Swiss also. Courtyard made me feel like Alice in Wonderland ¿ I couldnÍt decide which way to go for a moment as there are several independent entrances to the rooms & suites, reception and Marius Pub ¿ a decent restaurant, which is a main food supply for guests. ItÍs an interesting detail reminiscent of XIX-century situation when one landlord would own a place offering rooms or apartments of different quality for rent to people from different social circles ¿ it could only be a small room or full-on suite, but all in one building: the same courtyard with separate entrances leading to places of all kinds. The house actually dates back to as early as 1828 when Swiss architect Augusto Lange designed this classical piece. Located just off Nevsky prospect in the heart of the city, Helvetia proofs its leading position among rivals in the class but stands aside as a good Swiss bank.
Location: The closest metro station is Mayakovskaya / Ploshad Vosstaniya. A number of historical sites and museums are located close to Helvetia ¿ VladimirÍs Cathedral, Fyodor Dostoevsky memorial apartment & museum, Kuzhechny market to name just a few.

ItÍs a top class mini-hotel rated ****. Located on Millionnaya street, 11 formerly one of the most prestigious places in the city where the wealthiest noblemen have built their residences. Winter Palace actually starts on this street running to the Field of Mars. The house Ermitage hotel occupies was presented by Emperor Paul the First to Princess A.P. Gagarina (Lopukhina). Walls outlaid with wooden panels and top-grade materials used to decorate interiors, looking stylish yet vintage. The hotel has autonomous heating system.
Location: Located between the Palace Square & the Field of Mars Ermitage hotel, unlike other central hotels occupies a nice quiet spot right in between all major sites. The drawback is there are not many shops in this area, but loads of eateries (a great new Italian cuisine restaurant is very close). During White Nights ¿ the hottest tourist season you have a 24-hour access to the Palace Embankment to watch the opening of bridges and a panorama view of Peter & Paul Fortress. A Marble Palace is another neighbor of Ermitage hotel.
