Vegeterian Restaurants and Cafes in St. Petersburg

There are quite a few vegeterian cafes and restaurants in St. Petersburg. Many "normal" restaurants have vegeterian meals and even menus. Below is a list of two most popular (and quite cheap) cafes. If you want a vegeterian restaurant and fancy interior, then it's better to go to Idiot restaurant listed in Russian Food section.

Guaranga Vegeterian Cafe. A small vegetarian restaurant / cafe that serves great and cheap indian vegeterian food. Favourite of monks and St. Piter's vegeterians.
The food is great: very tasty and nutritive. Try the "mong-dal" soup made of lentils and spices ($1 for a bowl, it can be too spicy for some people though), yellow rice with nuts and raisins ($0.3 for a plate), salads ($0.4 for a bowl). See their website for the photos of the food they serve.
The waiter is a bit slow, but very polite and helpful.
This cafe is a great option to have a midday meal or to buy something to eat in the train, because it's just 10 minutes walk from the station and they can serve food in plastic containers, which is practical.
Opened from 10.00 until 22.00 daily.
Address: Ligovski prospekt, #17; Location: Located within 10-minute reach from Moskovski railway station (where the trains from Moscow and Novgorod arrive), Nevski Prospekt, also close to Puppet Theater hostel and St.Petersburg Int'l Hostel .Opened: from 10.00 to 22.00 daily. Map: D3 (triangle #5) .Metro: Mayakovskaya (å‡ÍÓ‚Ò͇); next to "Oktyabrski" concert hall); Phone: (812) 272-7723. Internet: http://gauranga.nm.ru/www/ E-mail: gauranga_spb@euro.ru

Lakshmi Vegeterian Cafe.
Popular among people who live near this area, especially on weekdays. The cafe serves cheap, tasty meals, like vegeterian borsch (a Russian soup made out of beet-root) ($0.4) or yellow rice ($0.25) or nice indian bread ($0.3).
The cafe is so empty sometimes (especially on weekends) that you can hear the echo, when you talk, but the staff is quite friendly and communicable.
Address: Khersonskaya Ul., #23. Location: near St.Petersburg Int'l hostel, 5 minutes to Nevski Prospekt. Directions: metro Ploshchad Alexandra Nevskogo Map: D3 (triangle #6) .Open hours: 10.00-22.00

Nevski Prospekt Vegeterian Cafe. A very nice vegeterian cafe on Nevski Prospekt, serves Russian veg food. A dinner for about $3.
Address: Vladimirski Prospekt, #13 . Location: 5 minutes walk to Vladimirskaya church , on the corner of Nevski Prospekt ,10 minutes from Puppet Hostel. Directions: metro Mayakovskaya. Map: C3 (triangle #7) .Open hours: 11.00-22.00
