Information about Transportation in St. Petersburg:
There are two major airports in St. Petersburg: Pulkovo 1 (domestic flights), Pulkovo 2 (international flights). There are many daily flights to various Russian and international destinations. The best links are established with Moscow and major cities in Germany. A flight to Moscow takes 1 hour 20 minutes, a flight to Germany takes slightly more than 2 hours.
To get from / to Scandinavian countries it's better to use a daily train that arrives to Finlandsky railway station (metro Pl. Lenina). There are also a few daily buses to Finland. It takes an overnight journey to get to Finland (8 hours).
To get from / to Baltic states it's convenient to use buses (like Eurolines). A journey to / from Tallin (Estonia) takes only 6 hours, there are many buses departing every day from Eurolines terminal (Baltyiski railway station).
To travel to Moscow by train, you will need to get to Moskovsky railway station, which is in the middle of St. Petersburg main street - Nevsky Prospekt.
Passenger ferries do not operate in St. Petersburg yet, there are only cruise ships stopping for a few days at the main port (on Vasilievsky Island), but they don't take regular passengers.
