Yuri
lives with his wife in a nice village on the shore of Karabozha
lake in Novgorod region. He is a very nice and friendly person
and I met him last winter when he was fishing on the icy lake.
I asked him if he wouldn't mind to accommodate travelers and he
agreed.
So, now you have a unique chance to experience authentic Russian
village life. There are hardly any tourists there and the place
is quite remote, but it will be a kind of travel you'll never
forget.
Yuri proposes various activities. In Winter, he can take you fishing
on the lake with him, and teach you some fisherman's tricks, in
Spring, you can go for walks in the forest, prepare the garden,
in Summer, you can go swimming, walk in the forest to gather berries
and mushrooms, or fishing, in Autumn, you can learn how Russians
prepare their wooden village houses for winter and help Yuri gathering
things from the garden.
Of course, if you help with the garden, your accommodation will
be free, you will just need to buy food yourself.
Location:
Russia, Novgorod region, Ustreka settlement. It is between Moscow
(6 hours train + 2 hours by car) and St. Petersburg (4 hours train
+ 2 hours by car). Train usually costs about $10 one way, while
a car is about $15 one way. There are drivers at the

1 rooms: telephone, bed, wardrobe, Kitchen, TV.
Sleeps: 2 persons (1 double bed). Additional beds can
be provided for extra payment.
Requirements: No.
Payment: This is our non-commercial project, you will
either stay for free if you help Yuri with his stuff, or you
can pay $5 / night just for meals and to support his family
as well.
Anyway, the final price will be arranged on the spot. The most
interesting for Yuri is to meet people from other countries
and show what life in Russia is like.
