Has anyone purchased a 1st class ticket from Moscow to Irkutsk and then 2nd class from Irkutsk to Vladivostok - without using WTR on-line vendors? I tried to use Amex in Moscow (by telephone and by fax) but they only deal with air tickets. I need pricing for these 2 sections. The trip will be 1-way only. Also, what are the chances of getting these tickets in Moscow if I arrive at the train station a day before the "expected" journey (say in late January '08?? I only want to hear about actual experiences, NOT opinions about hypothetical situations that don't mean anything in reality. Thanks in advance..

This is the kind of ticket that people buy far in advance as soon as they become available (45 days before travel date). For example, as of today for the 20th of Jan trains that are available are: MOSCOW - IRKUTSK #350 (87 hours +) 2nd class Kupe 5428.8 - 6765.8 RUR about 20 beds left #10 (76 hours +) 1st class lux 15381.7 - 18045.7 RUR only 8 beds left IRKUTSK - VLADIVOSTOK #32 2nd Class Kupe 5271.7 - 6370.7 RUR about 40 beds left These are the prices if you buy the tickets directly at the station without using a service desk or agency.
