This is my first post 
I am taking my very excited 15 year old daughter to St Petersburg in February. Rather than leave it to chance (she can't cope with that) I could do with exact details of the following.
How easy is it to get the hourly bus from St P to Novgorod?
Where do you go?
How do you get a ticket?
How much does it cost etc?
She really needs to know (she's autistic!) so I need to be able to give her a proper answer.
Is it easier to get a tour/excursion? Would anyone have detail of these?

I'd recommend getting a train instead. There are about 5 of them every day, it takes 3 hours, two in the morning, three in the evening.
Departs from Moskovsky Railway station, which is on Nevsky Prospekt, she can get a ticket there (about $8 - 200 R) one way.
If you really want her to be looked after, then the tour is better. If she's after experiencing things, definitely on her own. |

I agree have taking the bus and train. The bus is cramped and train is better. THe station is not too far from the town.
open Ticket is about 10 USD and you sit up right. The trip is so quick, you do not need a sleep quarters.
Hotel, I wold suggest the Volkov Hotel in the down town next to the Novgorod Kremlin and St Sophia.
My friend has an English student at the same age and may want to practice her English out. PM if me and I will forward your email address to her to see if she will help you. This girl has been corresponding with another American for 3 years thanks to this site. |
