1) No, it generally means that differences in cultures and lifestyles can be complicated to understand at first but with patience you will grow to understand and appreciate each others lifestyles.
2) To an extent, if you are not forthcoming with your intentions and she has the belief that you are just friends and someone else comes along who is just as suited or even less so but has made their intentions clear of starting a family and whatnot then yes they sometimes will choose the other guy. Just be upfront and honest about what you are looking for and it will carry you far.
3) Yes it is, I remember when first trying to explain how Americans buy houses / cars / etc and how the bank technically owns everything instead of the people who are purchasing things. In Russia it is normal, even after marriage, based on the income of the families for the newly married couple to live with the parents of one of the families until they can afford a home or belongings of their own. It's really case-by-case, but I know that my finances older brother and wife were married 2 years ago and still live at home with his family.
4) In as many times as I have been to Russia, I have never had a problem with PDA (public displays of affection) of course at first it is awkward, but if the relationship is there, it's not much different than the US and Europe. Although it is slightly more reserved, I walk the streets of Russia with my finances hand in mine, we share kisses, no one really thinks twice about it. Granted 10+ years ago this was uncommon but with the influx of western influence it is becoming more and more accepted and normal. |

No Gregg, I've been going to a Russian church almost all my life...I do have eyes and what I see is my opinion. I've been to Moscow also and it's the same as in Kazan. I just find it inappropriate in some settings that women dress like they are going to a Friday night dance club. The topic is Russian women...now I can say also about some American women too..but that's not the topic here. Also, I'm not saying all Russian women, because middle age and older dress appropriate to the settings that they are attending. |

I think wearing sexy clothing and high heels is always appropriate. I am sick and tired of loud-mouth American girls in sweat pants, sneakers, with cell phone and starbucks coffee in their hands, yelling and screaming... Not to mention a very large number of fat girls here in the US. And those that use the word "like" in every sentence - how annoying...  |

And the use of "umm". It's really sad when a graduate student gives a presentation and uses that stupid sound repeatedly. It drives me crazy and makes me want to yell, "Just pause and don't say anything!!" |

| Yes the level of class in the United States is very lacking...however when you import the 3rd world into a society where by the original society becomes the minority...the society then becomes 3rd worl. And when is the wearing of pants down around the thighs and or knees going to go away? Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears, 50 Cent, when are all these losers going to go away? Yes American Culture...well it is what we eat...Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries and cokes...utter shit!! |

I couldn't agree with you more. I wonder how many of these "loud-mouth American girls in sweat pants, sneakers, with cell phone and starbucks coffee in their hands" realize how unattractive they look when they put so little effort into their personal appearance?
My two best Russian friends are women over the age of 35 and they ALWAYS look good. They may not wear heels and sexy clothes all of the time, but when they do, they look absolutely stunning.
