So I'm going to Russia for the first time in April. I'll be staying in St. Petersburg for a month and just need a little advice.
1. What is the weather like at the end of April and through May? I need to pack fairly light, and I've been told to layer, but what is the average temp during this time of year?
2. How would you recommend I carry my money? I read about pickpocketing and such, so would it be best for me to have one of those things that hang around my neck and go under my clothes? Would it not be advised to ever carry a purse?
3. I'm staying at the St. Petersburg International Hostel, so does anyone know of any good nightclubs that are fairly close to this and are safe?
4. OK, so I speak zero Russian. Nothing. However, I'm going with a woman who speaks fluent Russian and lived there for several years. Still, how much Russian would you recommend I learn before going? I'm trying to take a Russian language course in January, but it may be hard to fit in with my schedule. If this course doesn't work, are there any recommendations of good books/tapes/computer programs etc. that would help me out?
Thanks so much! |

| The first part of question 4 is strange too. How much Russian do we recommend you learn? Obviously the more you learn then more you will be able to understand and communicate so the better your experience will be! The BAREST minimum is to learn the cyrillic alphabet. |

Ok your first question, the answer is 45-55F
second question, if you carry 2,000 dollars or more, leave your money in the hotel safe, cost like 5 dollars, carry only you will spend in that day.
4th question, !!!!PLEASE!!! learn at least de Russian letters (Cirillic) helps a lot, even if you don't understand, but you don't will have any problems, because specially in St. Petersburg, many people speaks english, I'am Mexican, I been there last summer, and the name of the streets is in russian and english, some people speak spanish, believe it or not, if you go to Moscow you need more Russian.
Visit this site www.dk.com you'll found travel guides books, that books are very good.
good luck |
