The Russian Embassy has had my visa application for over 1 week, and I paid the $200 for next day service. It has still not arrived. I tried to call them 20+ times this past week, but all I got was a busy signal, a recorded message in Russian, or no answer (one time I let it ring for 10 minutes straight). I can only assume there was no problem with my application, otherwise they would have contacted me. It just sounds like they didn't take care of it and mail it back to me in time (I sent a paid next day envelope with my application) like they were supposed to.

My flight leaves tomorrow, and I've got nothing, not even a passport, because I of course had to send that in with my application. I can't cancel and rebook the flight because my travel agent says Aeroflot's reservation center is closed on weekends. In the immortal words of Joe Pesci, I got screwed at the drive-thru, this time by the Russian Embassy. Sad It's the first time I've had a $1500 ticket go down the drain. I guess when I re-schedule my flight, I'll have to have at least one month notice to get my visa.
