Apparently he "slept like a log", woke up, and it was only during breakfast that his wife pointed out to him that there was a knife stuck in his back...

"A NEWSPAPER that defied the Kremlin by reporting that President Vladimir Putin was planning to marry an Olympic gold medal-winning rhythmic gymnast half his age was shut down yesterday.
The closure of Moskovski Korrespondent, whose editor Grigori Nekhoroshev was forced to resign, was a sharp reminder of the perils of invoking Kremlin displeasure..........
........“I thought we should run the story to help break the taboo,” said Nekhoroshev. He paid a swift penalty for his daring: the paper, owned by Alexander Lebedev, the billionaire tycoon, ceased publication immediately.
Its parent firm blamed “costs” and “conceptual disagreements with the newsroom” but insisted in a statement that “this has nothing to do with politics and is solely a business decision”.
Few in Russia will believe that......
........“Our director came to the newsroom and told us we were being shut down,” said Nekhoroshev, who sounded shaken. “As far as the story is concerned I’ve full faith in my correspondents.”............
..........During Putin’s presidency, the Kremlin has brought all the television channels under its control and become highly sensitive to criticism in the press.
Lebedev, who had ordered his editors to stand up the story with some facts or apologise – they apologised – may now come under further pressure. He also owns Novaya Gazeta, a paper fiercely critical of the Kremlin.
“It just goes to show what a terrible state the Russian media is in after eight years of Putin’s regime,” said Oleg Panfilov, an analyst. “It is so cowed that one just needs to bark at it to see it hide under a table.”........."

Someone's followup comment: "......Today's report from Moscow confirmed........... there was an immediate "administrative" repression against the paper that dared to touch the private life of Putin. The Russian strongman likes to keep his image "clean" and his officials take care of this very efficiently.
In spite of hundreds of reports, there is no clear evidence how the alleged "marriage" story originated. It could have been a funny incident if not for the harsh, Soviet-like reaction against what had been left of the freedom of the press. The regime forced on that country 8 years ago has a chance of longevity. As Professor Richard Pipes remarked in one of his essays on Russia: "Russians live in trenches" and they still think politics could be left to the government. With no citizens' society in Russia there is no freedom for the press and public opinion. Sad but true........" |

Perhaps she does not:
...love him
...sleep with him
...manage a home, raise children, cook, whatever
I'm sure lots of folks could add dozens of items to the list above. Some women just come along for the free ride and do nothing to contribute to the home/house/children. Many (most?) do, but some do not.
I cannot say with certainty what the situation with Mr. Putin may be, but my point is that it takes two (and sometimes three!) to decide a marriage is not what one would have hoped it would be. It is not always the fault of the man.
Many man, JoJo, actually keep the wife in the picture because it would be cruel to put her on the street - even with a generous settlement. Perhaps the wife has no marketable skills and has no head for managing money.
I know of many couples in this very sad situation in several countries around the world. It happens. Who has a crystal ball and knows for sure that the person that might marry in the 20s will mature and be that same person 10, 20, 30 years later? It's hardly fair to expect either party to stay in a loveless relationship. But I'd bet you that there are loads more men out there who maintain a facade than women. |
Your post is so stupid....I am so glad to leave this forum you old backwards fart.... |
JoJo, maybe you're already gone, who knows? But is it really so stupid? Why must the view of the woman scorned be the only viewpoint? I didn't say that every man who cheats isn't a dog - but there are a lot of reasons for it. Men shouldn't have to sign up for a lifetime of servitude and unhappiness. And neither should women. |

The thing is that in general, women endure more things than males. This doesn't necessarily make them better, because it just causes them to resent and nag the husbands, which turns both of them off. I have a friend who, after finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her, is STILL with him after many years. She complains about it to me, but my question is only: Why are you still with him?
She cannot answer it.
What JoJo appears to paint is the image of women who do nothing but trying to make a relationship work. While that is true, we have to wonder WHAT exactly makes them hold on to a bad relationship? It is fear of the unknown and actually being ALONE that causes them to hold on to men who act like pigs. Not only Russian men cheat. There's this common knowledge about how Italian men want a mother for a wife and a "whore" for a girlfriend. I didn't say that to say that men are like this. It is just that it's an attitude not limited to Russian men.
If there is mutual love and respect for each other, a man should never really feel the need to stray, and the wife should not have to put up with it. Most of the time, cheating is just the consequence of a marriage already in trouble for other reasons. |

MOSCOW — The State Duma passed in a first reading Friday a bill that would allow courts to close media outlets for publishing libelous statements, a law critics say would give authorities an additional tool to crack down on dissent.
The bill would add “dissemination of deliberately false information damaging individual honor and dignity” to the list of offenses for which a media outlet can be shut down.
Under current law, courts can close media outlets for publishing state secrets, extremist statements and statements supporting terrorism.
The Duma voted 339-1 in favor of the bill, which will now face two more Duma readings before being sent to the Federation Council for consideration. If approved there, it will be passed on to the president to be signed into law.

That's progress Russian style for you. I can't help but wonder what sort of political future the lone opponent to this bill has now. |

Putin's marriage is his private affair. He doesn't want others to chew about it. No one will like some one publishing his bed room adventures just for publicity and ratings. its equivalent to spy from a key hole. Putin being a president is basically a human being with his own thoughts.
I can remember paparazzi invaded late princess diana's personal life and finally killed her. Mr Putin doesn't want to become a victim.
as long as there is a rule, every citizen of that country should obey that, else it will be treated as contempt. even if Mr. Putin marries 3 people, its his personal life and no one, i mean no one can question him except his parents. |

Why are you so inquisitive about mr. putin's personal life?
whether he marries/date with some one is totally out of question. will you worry if Bill Clinton marries Monica as well as Paula zones in a single occasion? |
