There seems to be much conversation on this topic on this forum but I am still fuzzy on some of the very basics:

1. What is the difference in price for tarriff, etc to bring in a vehicle for personal use verses for resale?
2. If I have a Russian passort/citizenship (haven't lived there since I was a kid, so, don't assume I know too much), can I bring in a vehicle for personal use but with a permanent status rather then temporary.
3. If I bring in a vehicle for personal use, can I sell it in Russia?
4. I have two vehicles one is owned by me (Nissan 350Z) and one is still under Financing, an SUV, can I bring the financed vehicle into Russia since the title is not really mine yet? (even just under temp status)
5. If I can't take the SUV, would a low vehicle like Nissan 350Z make it through Russian roads? Shocked (I'd need to get to St. Petersburg where I am considering taking a temp job)
6. How many personal guards should I take with me on the trip if I went through Alaska and Vladivostok??? Wink
7. What is the transportation cost from Alask ato Vladivostok? Is there a website wher you can look at rates, etc?
8. Are there any other better or cheaper ways of taking a vehicle in then through Alaska/Vladivostok? I live in California.

Get the job first! Come to StP and then make enquiries and do your research first. Your questions indicate you are just starting.

There are aspects of your post which complicate matters and mean that I'm maybe not the best person to consult.
You are Russian and therefore things may well be different for a holder of a russian passport (international). Do you have a russian domestic passport too? i think you will need one to obtain a propiska and registration for a russian citizen. Registration is required in order to extend a temporary import certificate (for both foreigners and russians) and I'm fairly sure that you'll get a 10 day t.i.c. at whichever border you cross. Of course 10 days isn't enough to get across russia so it would need to be extended. Can a russian temporarily import a car? (probably) or must they import it permanently?(maybe) I think you really need to get the job first, get your documents and paperwork sorted so you have a propiska and proper russian domestic passport and then pay a visit to the StP customs office mentioned on the website where you can ask about what to do! It takes around 20 days to cross russia without stopping. Will spares and servicing be easy for your american spec car in StP? - not I'd say. In any event the challenge is to work out how to ensure you paperwork lasts long enough to get the car across russia. permanently importing the car will be expensive and a PITA IMHO so unless you temp job lasts a long time don't even think about it.
You situation is certainly a unique one. As I'm NOT russian and just go there on holiday on visas, my experience tends to revolve arounf the requirements for foreign people bringing in their cars temporarily.

I wouldn't transport any vehicle by road, rather by railroad. 1 stone = 1 windshield = 'saved' cost difference , not counting 'quality' road and its impact on the car. Or consider another scenario - in the middle of nowhere gearbox borks, would you stay near your car there and wait until it's repaired? Will your employer-to-be wait for you too?

There a lot of ferries from Japan to Vladivostok used by second hand japanese cars traders. So if you find a ferry from Alaska to Japan...

Send it by 'traditional' route for second hand american cars - second hand car auction -> ferry east coast-Spb. Find a Russian secondhand car agent and explain him the situation ( ...I want to buy my own car... ).
