With location not so much a concern, although I do want it convenient to get to and somewhat near to things in the city, but trying to keep the price below $200 a night, what do you know about any of these hotels?
Izmailovo Gamma-Delta, Maxima Irbis or Slavinia, Borodino, Soveitysky, Kebur Palace, Budapest, Cosmos, Okhotnik, Peking, or Planernoe. Places to eat nearby is a facotr. And I don't speak Russian.
Thanks.

The Gamma Delta is ok - on par with a super large Holiday Inn in the US. Lots to eat nearby, very close to the metro and probably 15 minutes from the Kremlin via the metro. There are a number of towers in this hotel complex (and complex is the right word) - some are better than others. I've never stayed at the Gamma Delta, but search through the archives here for more info:

And this:

It is a budget hotel and a good option.

I am also very much a fan of the Marriott properties in Moscow - the Aurora, the Grand, the Marriott Courtyard, and Marriott Tverskaya. These places are pretty expensive, but you can generally get great deals using Marriott frequent guest points. I've stayed for a week at 3 of the 4 above and would have paid $3000+ for the room, but ended up spending about $1000 as I used Marriott points. The trick is to go out and buy points at the Marriott site - you can buy 10,000 for something like $125. A five night stay is about 80,000 points. They do have limits on how many points you can buy in a year, so you'll likely have to have some points already in order to pull this off, but it is a *great* deal if you have Marriott points. These hotels are all very central and the Courtyard is a 10 minute walk from the Kremlin.

Izmailovo Gamma-Delta is ok, a good reasonable hotel. I stayed there for 2 days in March/April.

The only problem I had was that my fiancee had dressed me a little too much like a normal Russian (i.e. non-rich) so they wouldn't let me eat at the Japanese Restaurant, I looked too poor Smile

Very convenient to the Izmailovo markets, close to the Partisanskaya Metro (but I think it's more than 15 minutes to the Kremlin), as mentioned plenty of restaurants in the hotels and nearby.

Some of the staff spoke reasonable english.

I would advise you definitely the Budapest - it is historical part of Moscow, walking distance from the Bolshoy theatre, Red square and the Kremlin. There might be very attractive rates at some internet sites.

Do you have a website for that hotel?

I'm looking for places to stay too, and so far Izmailovo seems like the best option in Moscow.

Thanks!

On which line number is the Partizanskaya Metro station? I looked on the metro map again & again and I can't find it.

On Moscow's map, the Izmailovo hotels & Partizanskaya metro are in the north-east of Moscow between Metro line number 1 & 3!

I answered my question. Station's full name is Partizanskaya-Izmailosvsky Park but on the map it appears as Izmailosvsky Park.

Partizanskaya in the new name of the former Izmailovskiy Park station. It was decided a few years ago that having an Izmailovskiy Park station adjacent to an Izmailovskya station was too confusing, so the name was changed. One wonders whether it will ever be decided to do away with the confusion caused by having two different Arbatskaya stations and two different Smolenskaya stations.

Okhotnik is very good! I stood there in May, it's renovated, and 1 min walk from the metro station Vodny stadion.
the only problem we had there : during the first 3 days, hotel asked us every day to pay for 1 night, even if we ask to pay the whole amount. On the 3rd day, it was ok
