Medvedev is doing many good things in Russia these days. He stopped the printing press and allowing the Russian economy to correct itself.
Allowing the Ruble to deflate is probably political suicide, because inflation which is already a problem in Russia, will grow. But also Russia loose credit has greatly harmed the economy in the long run with over inflated housing prices and made Moscow the most expensive city to live in. But Medvedev has pushed more controls on the State Banks to control credit.
Although the problem of Russia were never created by Medvedev, he will take the fall for the problems.

Obama/Bush are doing the opposite. Watching Peter Schiff talking about the American economy. Basic problem is that American buy too much stuff and produce nothing in return. Houses are over priced also. It sounds much like Russia, but they are doing the opposite. Banking regulations are not being enforced or revisited and they are printed so much money that it is a joke. USA needs to have its economy reformed to ove back to a manufacturer, not just a consumer society. Russia has to do the same. It is political suicide to do the right thing. Medvedev is willing to, Obama/Bush are not.
