Hi all,

Taking the #4 from Moskva to Irkutsk on the 17th - arriving 1 AM on the 21st in Irkutsk.

Transit visa expires on the 22nd at midnight.

The only way to respect the visa deadline is either stay on the same train or take the next train to Ulan Bataaar - 24 hrs later (the #6).

Please confirm that this is correct and advice if I can arrange tickets for Irkutsk - Ulan Bataar (either #4 or #6 trains are OK - for the 21st and 22nd respectively) through TicketLine or maybe with some luck straight from Yaroslavskaya when we arrive.

Thank you very much indeed.

It's better not to gamble and stay on the same train, so you don't have problems with your visa expiriing. It is possible to arrange tickets through http://trainline.ru although the prices specified there are not correct.

If you really want to see Russia, I advise you to get a tourist visa, so at least you could stay for a few days in Moscow and Baikal Lake. It's very easy to get it, see http://waytorussia.net/RussianVisa/

Thanks a lot for the advice. I filled in and submitted a request at trainline.ru but they did not tell me if there are tickets available. I shall probably call them to quicken things up a bit.

Re. visiting Russia on a tourist visa, I would be more than glad to do it the next time. This time around, procedure difficulties and a little bad planning made things slip off of control so there are even chances we don't make the trip at all...

Thank you very much.
