I apologize if this questions has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an answer.

Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa, then apply for a second tourist visa before using the first one?

For example, could someone apply for a 30-day tourist visa which would start in June, then apply for another which would start in late July? This way, someone could travel Russia within 30 days, visit a neighboring country, and return with a fresh 30 days.

Thanks

I think there is a required time limit between tourist visas. For the life of me, I can't remember where I saw that or even how long the limit is.

Then again, I could be getting it confused with the business visa.

I read on the New York Consulate web page, that this is not allowed, and the the previous visa would be canceled. You will need to contact the consulate office that deals with your region and verify. I'm not sure, but you may be able to apply for a multiple-entry tourist visa. If not, then apply for a double entry business visa.

I have now done 2 visa applications, 1 Student and 1 tourist. It get's easier every time.

Please be advised that one can not have two valid visas in one passport; in this case the first visa will be canceled.

Look near the bottom of the page of the following link for the above quote.

You would be better served by obtaining a multientry business visa. I can't point to a specific reference, but have heard time and again that you may only have one current Russian visa in your passport at a time.

Not Russian, and may not apply, but I had an unused Chinese visa in my passport and couldn't make the trip and required another visa for a different trip, and the Chinese simply placed the new visa on top of the old visa. Nice as it saved me a page in my passport.
