I forgot to bring my voltage adaptor the one that can convert from 240 volts (Australia) into the Russian grid. Therefore I can not recharge my phone, camera or laptop.

I have wandered around central Moscow looking for one but to no avail.

Does anyone know where I might purchase one in central Moscow?

Cheers

Not to worry -- the official standard in Australia is 230V, and in Russia 220V. As an engineer, I can assure you that you don't need a voltage adapter.

What you probably DO need are plug adapters, so you can work with the Russian-standard sockets.

Just look for a place that has lots of little kiosk-type shops (usually underground passages for pedestrian street crossing or metro access), it is common to see those that specialize in electronic stuff, usually with a sign that has some variant of батарейки (batteries). In my experience, these kiosks always have socket adapters, usually pretty cheap (maybe about 100 rubles a piece).

I suggest bringing your smallest charger with you. This can serve two purposes -- you can make sure that an adapter fits your Australian plug, and if you don't speak Russian, you can just show the plug to people as a way of asking where is the shop you need!

Some of the adapters look a bit strange because they can take many different kinds of plug. I think you'll have no problems.
