Hi Ulf,
Yes we are planning on going to the airshow this year. We are in the USA and trying to get up a group to go and support each other. Whats your plan?
Cheers!

Hi!
My plan is going. That's about it for my plan at the moment. I might end up going alone if noen of my friends want to join.
I have some friends in Moscow that can help me with some things.

The best way to visit the air show is to join an organised MAKS-2009 tour.
Prices are from £845 per person. The tour includes full day at the air show, visit to the Star City (NASA equivalent), guided tour to Monino, full day of excursions in Moscow including former top secret objects and the recently opened museum of the cold war, Russian visa, quality accommodation and all transfers and entrance fees.
If you book before 05 July you get a free guided visit to the largest open-air aviation museum in Russia at Monino.

I don't know that I'd agree this is the "best" way... especially when advertised on a site that caters to independant travelers. £845 = @ $1400 US.
5 hotel nights? $387 at the Izmailovo Gamma-Delta Hotel (Address 71, Izmailovskoe Shosse, Moscow, 105318, Russia, https://www.moscow-hotels.net/izmailovo-gamma-delta-hotel/reservations.aspx)
Moscow Underground tour? Free. Or $22 at Patriarshy Dom tours (http://www.russiatravel-pdtours.netfirms.com/sched.htm)
Taganka Secret Bunker and Metro Tour tour? 1400 rur or $45. (http://www.capitaltours.ru/zkp.html)
Star City? About $200. From your own website. (http://www.justgorussia.co.uk/en/excursion_star_city.html)
Monino? Maybe $100. Lots of places to choose from.
MAKS? Maybe $200. Prices not published yet.
Profit and tourguides? Yes, I know you need to consider these items. But not quite sure this is "the best way" to see MAKS. |

Well our warbirds group is going as I said, four so far. The tour thing is way out of line according to my Russia guide, anyone with a brain can do it for much less. We are military pilots and won't have any trouble. Anyone else going or already been give us a shout and we'll have a beer! Thanks for all the advice as well!!
Cheers from the USA!!

Hi,
I'll be going to the MAKS show on 2 of the trade days. I have been a few times before and would suggest a Trade day over Public days as the show gets absolutley packed on Public days. In 2007 I went on the Saturday and I can honestly say I have never seen so many people in one place in all my life. Looking from the Trade Grandstand it was like looking at a sea of ants ! Quite frightening!
If you can get your visas and hotel sorted on line it is much cheaper than going through an agency although its take some time with emails coming and going over a period of weeks. If you are thinking of going i would say DO IT !! it is a fantastic show. Have a great time.

Hi Ian
You can go to the trade days even if you are not trading?
Is it the same show in the weekdays as in the weekend? I don't want to miss anything

Hi Ulf,
Yes you can go to the show on Trade days even if your not trade but you have to pay a lot more money for a trade ticket. Check out the aviasalon site for prices. As for the flying ,during the week it's more Manufacturers displays with generally more "foreign" and "Aerobatics " etc at the weekends. All in all it's a great show. Get there if you can.
