Yes you're right Smile
Cars are def to be cheaper, they are even now.
What i meant to say is that I guess prices will not collapse. i.e. i can hardly imagine metro (subway, tube) tickets would cost 5 roubles per trip.

Interesting, I have put predictions and everyone has said they are not right, but they have confirmed to be true now. Russia will suffer from deflation for products made in Russia, because Oil has just went under $50 and no one is going to buy when they are not sure what is happening tomorrow, so sellers will reduce the price to sell. Flats are coming down in prices and cars will be next.

Damn! I have bought a new car half of the year ago... If I could wait more...

REnault have reduced their production and car sales in Russia has plummeted.
Car prices are down 10-15 % here

Logan. Comparing with those "buckets with bolts" produced by AvtoVaz Logan is fantastic (yes I know it is cheapest in the whole Renault model line). I was able to buy Megane but greed overcame me. Anyway I can't buy Laguna 3. Sad Maybe this is even better. I plan to use it for 3..4 years. Probably something with hybrid engine will be available to this time.

Yes, in Canada.
I debating in what I want to buy.
Used BMW or new Mitsubushi or Subaru.

I wanted to help the Auto Industry here, but for the price, there is nothing I want.

Hybrids suck in Cold temperature and batteries are expensive also.
I like the new diesels that are coming out.

Actually the LOGAN has been designed for the east European market, but this car is also very successful in western European countries. People just realized that the price/quality is very high : same safety features and last engine technology. The only bad point is this car has the design/shape of the previous generation (no curves) but many people don't care.

I really like the last generation of Megane, Laguna, very nice cars, they have nothing to envy to their German counterparts.

Anyway we sit inside of them, not outside. Smile In the past I was user of the AvtoVaz production. They are the perfect example of negative side of absence of free market. The only good side of these cars is the low price. They didn't manage to create well looking car, they didn't manage to control quality of production. They didn't understand that customer satisfaction is the key to success. I think it is simply lack of will and desire to perform better.

I like them too. After Logan I'd like to buy Laguna, but my wife insists on cars like VW Passat or maybe SUVs.

Ender your wife has excellent taste. I had to pick a new car today and decided on a VW Passat. It will be waiting for me when I return from Russia at the end of January.

BTW, how Australia is doing? Australian dollar fell significantly. Can you compare what is going in Australia and what is going in Russia? What is your impression?

It is starting to hit Canada right now, but we were not as levered as Russia, Brits, and the Americans, but we are like the Russian and Ausies that we depend on selling resources. We never had the rise like Russia, but we will not have the fall.
If you think life is bad, just look at Ukraine, then you will feel better about your country. Ukraine is completely F*cked and no one can help them.
Rouble went from 24 - 1 USD to 29- 1 USD. Ukraine went from 4.4 - 1USD and now 7.6 UAH - 1 USD. Almost half.

Me I thinking Mitsubushi Outlander, Subaru Forester, or BMW 325XI. I want the All wheel drive. But I am holding out until they scream to sell which is getting soon.

Well then, your wife also has impeccable taste.

The V6 CC Passat is not available here till next year, I just ordered it off the brochure. Even the base model Passat is impressive though.
