I saw something on your site about you registering my visa for $20, but when I applied for visa support I didn't see any way to specify that this be done. At what point in the process do I do this? We are visiting the Lake Baikal area for 3 days but not staying in a hotel (staying in a private home). Thanks.

You need to register your visa once you are in Russia. See http://waytorussia.net/RussianVisa/Registration.html for more information and addresses.
