gamma_ray Just Starting Joined: 14 Jun 2009 Posts: 4	Posted: Mon Jul 06, 2009 8:02 am    Post subject: ticket prices? hey people my friend and i are starting the transmongolian from st petersburg to beijing on august 1st. and we'd love to get opinions from experienced travellers! the thing is we're planning to stop in moscow, baikal, ulaan bator and finally beijing and we've contacted some agencies and the total cost of the tickets is between us$800-900 in 2nd class and they say they only charge a 10% comission. is that price reasonable? i've heard some people did it for almost half the price. i've also heard it's way cheaper to buy the tickets at the local stations, but the problem is we're travelling in the high season and we have really tight schedules -we need to be in beijing by august 29th or so. the other issue is visas. we've been reading in tons of website that a new agreement states that argentinian citizens (that's where we are from) are no longer asked for visas to enter russia since last month. could anyone there confirm this? and one more thing! we're planning to stay in mongolia for only 5 days. do we need a visa? can we apply for it at the border? thanks a lot!
