We leave next week for a loop through Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Baltics. But I have belatedly realized there is a problem with our visas. We plan start in Moscow then loop through St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Vilnius. Then we return to Moscow by plane, stay two more days and catch our return flight home. The plane tickets are booked and unchangeable. Now I realize that our month-long tourist visas are SINGLE ENTRY. Shocked

We need to either change our visas from single entry to double entry or obtain an additional 72 hour visa for our second entry. We will need to do this either from St. Petersburg (where we stay 4 days) or Tallinn (3 days) or Vilnius (3 days.)

Can you advise on what type of visa we should seek, where we should get it and how much it should cost. Any referrals on agencies that could help with this would be appreciated!

No, you can't make a single-entry into a double-entry and 72 hour visas don't exist anymore.

I advise to get another invitation and apply for another tourist visa when you're in Vilnius or Riga, but before than contact the agency that issued the visa support for your previous visa, maybe they will be able to do something and they will advise whether the Russian consulate will be OK with issuing you a second visa so quick after your first trip.

Brick wall

Ooh, sounds like this is going to be a nightmare. On our second pass through Russia, we fly into Moscow from Lithuania and fly out again 38 hours later. You don't think we could get a transit Visa?

One thing we are trying to do (with little luck so far) is switch our flight home so that, on our way home, we would fly Lithuania - Moscow, then depart Moscow 4 hours later -- never leaving the airport at all. I've heard it's okay to transit through the Moscow airport as long as you don't leave the building. Is that true?

Thanks for your advise. Can you advise on any agencies in Vilnius that might help with this?

Yes, if you're in Russia for less than 72 hours, then you can get a transit visa. You will need to present the tickets and the visa to the country where you're going after Russia (if you need one). The transit visa is quite easy to get, so it's not going to be any trouble.

As for changing the flight, I would advise you to contact the consulate and ask them about it. Theoretically, if you do not cross the Russian border you don't need a transit visa -- in this case you need to make sure that your both flights leave from the same airport (and preferably the same terminal), and make sure you won't have to cross the border to get from one flight to another.

I don't know any agency in Vilnius, sorry.
