Hi!

I'm thinking of going to Russia in December (25.).
Would you recommend me going there in this time or is it too cold?

I have 14 days to spent in Russia, maybe do some tours in Moscow or St. Petersburg or both but I'm very flexible about that!

Anyone interested? Smile

about me: I'm 23 male student from Austria

Looking forward to Russia,
kind regards,
flo

yeah, you should go. i was in Moscow at the end of December last year. I did New Year's Eve in Red Square - it was quite fun.

Loads better with a pal or two, but also very easy to do on your own. It's not "too cold", but that's somewhat subjective. I live in Chicago in the US and it was colder in Chicago than it was in Moscow (actually, colder in Chicago than most of the trans-siberian route through Siberia that I took later in the week...!)

Very Happy

I also did my first Russian winter trip in December last year.

Coming from a country where the temperature at that time of year is always over +30 I had no trouble handling the cold. Since you are from Austria it will be easy for you,

New year is one big party for days on end, the best time to go in winter. The only disatvantage is the relatively short amount of daylight if you want to do a lot of sightseeing.

1st of all, sorry for my english!
The temperature in winter for the last 3-4 years seldom folls below -10-15. But about 5 years ago it was -36-40 in Moscow. What's gonna happen this year -???
You have to remember, that Russia is a very big country, so it depends on the area, you'll choose.
To begin with, of course it's better to visit Moscow or Spb & not just RedSquare, Moscow or Nevskii, Spb. Wink
As we are talking about december, I'd prefer Moscow. Spb should be visited in summer, it's much more beautiful in that season (Petergof with it's fountains at least).
