when i visit can i get a pre-paid cell fon, and if so approximately how much?

a contract costs $10-$15, usually you already have $5-$15 on your account. You can get it at any telecom in Moscow (there are a lot, usually next to metro stations). If you need a phone, you can get one for about $100.

Otherwise, you can rent a cell-phone (the calls are at the operator's rate) and have it delivered to you through ( http://waytorussia.net/Services/Extra/Mobile.html )

I've just discovered this website: great job!

As a student, I spent several months in Moscow last year. In a few days, I will go back for another three months. last year, I had a MegaFon pre-paid phonecard, which was absolutely fabulous, because I only paid 1dollarcent for an sms (to any country) . Apparently they changed the prices, and megafon became more expensive. Which provider would you recommend? I heard that the formula MTS jeans was quite alright as well?
