Your mom is great mom. In our countries children must be accustomised to the cold. My mom is same. I used to sleep without any cover and I feel comfortable now. Anyway Moscow is a warm place. I don't think that foreigners should have problems with it.
Ural and Siberia - another case. -10..15 considered a warm templerature, -15..-20C is still comfortable but -35C with strong wind will kill you quickly without proper dressing. |

Your flats are horribly hot. I assume the villages are different than the block of flats.
My record is minus 56C. Your piss will freeze before it hits the ground. Friend of mine stayed in a camp way North of Magadan.
When it is cold and stressful, that is when you become true comrades and friends. |
