A friend got his Russian visa (sticket) today along with a piece of paper (arrival/departure card) stapled on my passport.

everything on the card and the visa is correct, from spelling of first and last name, and the date of birth. however, on the bottom of the visa where it's all <<<<<<<<<< etc, there's a slight mistake on the last name and first name.

for instance, the last name is YA**** and first name is FRANCIS

but at the bottom of the sticker, its

VQA****<<FRANSIS<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<0

take note, the letter Y is missing after the letters VQ

and the name is FRANSIS instead of FRANCIS

everywhere else on the visa says YA******* and FRANCIS, not FRANSIS

is this something he should be concerned about or is this "normal" and should just be ignored?

tks!

Don't worry about that: this information, at the very bottom of your visa, is for internal use. For example, I know a person named "Smith" and while her name was written correctly at the top part of the visa (this is important) in the lower part it was written "SMIT", which is how you prounounce it in Russian. So, I think in your case they wrote Francis as Fransis because that's how you prounounce your name in Russian.

Hope this helps Smile

whew! brilliant.

nobody obviously wants to get anyone deported just because of one teeny tiny inconsistency.....especially after all those passport checks etc.
