My girlfriend is from Nalchik and is visiting her parents this winter. I'm trying to figure out how I can join her for a few weeks. I'll be staying with her family (therefore no hotel - although I would spend some extra money to book one if I need to) and absolutely do not want to cause them any problems. Anyway - I have a few questions.
1.) Obviously the easiest way to get a visa / invitation is through one of the visa agencies. But visatorussia support told me: "Please be advised that Northern Caucasus is a restricted region where foreign citizens have but very limited access to. In order to visit Nalchik, one absolutely needs a private invitation issued by local migration authorities." Does anyone have any comment to this?
2.) To follow that, if I don't mention Nalchik in my visa application, is that going to cause problems when I try to fly to Nalchik or when her parents register me? Again, the last thing in the world that I want is to cause her family problems, so the better question might be, is it possible that this approach could cause problems?
3.) Are there any travel agencies that specifically serve the North Caucasus (other than climbing Elbrus)?

Thanks!
