Hi
i go soon to Russia but heard about different papers for my visum. I tought i had everything (paper insurance, int. paspoort, fill in the visum paper + photos). Also i tought it was the best thing to book a hotel for 3 days and the rest of the holiday stay with my friends. Because then the hotel makes sure your stay is ok in Russia. In the mean while i dont know anymore what the best papers are in my case.
I go to Russia, Sochi and stay there with a friend and his family, only in this city. I heard a private visum doesnt excist anymore and it toke a long time to get it.
What is the best solution if i go from 14 januari till 28 januari 2011 ??
Shall i better get an invitation from a special agency??
Thx

Private visas (also called home-stay visas) do exist. I have not used one; I read that it can take a few weeks, and the Russian citizen you will visit, must spend some time and energy to help you get a private visa.

Usually, for a visit like yours, it is most convenient and practical to use a tourist visa. For this, you need an invitation from a hotel or a travel company. Maybe the hotel where you will stay, can make an invitation for you. If not, there are travel companies that can help. You must pay some money for the invitation.

Citizens of most countries can get a visa for up to 30 days. If you can, when you request your invitation, AND when you fill your visa application, write a later ending date (for example, 10 February instead of 28 January). It is OK to leave before the ending date, and it can be very bad if your return is delayed for some reason, and you stay past that date!
