I am a primary school teacher at a lovely village school in England. I am keen to travel and my head teacher has offered to give me all of the summer term off to explore (April - July as in August I plan to go to Yakutsk and travel up the Lena River).

I studied History and Russian at university and adore Russian literature. I have visited Russia twice before (Moscow/St Petersburg and hopping on and off the trans-siberian railway from Ulan-Ude to Moscow). I am keen to return again. However, I need to find a way to cover my day-to-day costs, such as rent and food. Would any of you know of a school / organisation / individuals that would like to learn English? I have heard of setups where people live with a family or community and teach some English each day in return for a free bed and food.

I have got lots of experience working with children aged 4-9 and also have a TEFL qualification. As well as Russian I have also studied French, German, Spanish and even Czech for a little while.

If I take this holiday I would really want to learn Russian, meet interesting people, not spend all my savings and have an adventure. Any ideas?

You are lucky man. You made an interesting proposal.
Unfortunately, at the moment I have not got a nice place (bed and food) which I can offer you. But probably something will change in the future.

Best regards
Nick.
