I am Canadian. I have been talking with an Omsk man for over a year. He has asked me to come there. I believe he wants to marry me. I want to go, but on my own terms as a volunteer or as an EFL instructor, and he respects this. However, I'm having difficulty finding opportunities in Omsk. Can anyone offer some advice? I am so nervous, yet I feel compelled to do this.

Go onto some of the Russian forums, chat rooms, etc. and see if you can find a woman in Omsk who is a translator/interpreter. She would be an ideal contact to point you to work possibilities as well as finding an apartment, i.e. share it with someone who wants to learn English better. And if you live with a girlfriend, you are more independent with regard to your "man". In fact, your native English knowledge is so rare in that part of the world, that you may be able to just make contact with an Omsk interpreter/translator and set up a partnership.
