Hello,
I have a russian tourist visa. I'm going to Russia in a couple of days. There is the name of an airport written on the bottom of my visa (below all the important informations, the strange codes I don't really understand why they're there) along with my name and other info, but the name of the airport is different than the airport I will be going to Russia. Is it a problem? The name of the airport on my visa is in Canada and in fact I will be flying from the United States. (I'm a Canadian citizen). Maybe it has to do with the fact I sent my application to the russian consultate in Canada... but I had specified I was flying from the U.S. Can it be a problem at U.S. airport?
Thank you,

As to my knowledge, I will take a stab that an agency, took care of your invitation visa. You will be fine because it really doesn't matter. My stuff usually says Moscow on my visas.

Personally, I dont think you should worry about it I have gotten 2 visas from Russia

Do you see the name of an airport, or the 3-letter code for an airport?

Alex,

There is no problem at all!

In the first place, when you enter Russia, the migration officials don't care at all which country you came from -- their concern is that you are who you say you are, and that you have proper permission to enter the Russian Federation.

About the 3-letter code: I never thought about this before, but all of my visas were issued by the San Francisco consulate, for which the visa shows the code SFO (which is indeed the code for San Francisco International Airport). So perhaps this is their system -- and your visa, shows the code for the airport nearest to the consulate that issued your visa.

Bon voyage!
