| Originally began visiting Russia to do volunteer work, at the same time I did all the tourist routes. I began meeting many people in business meetings, hospitals, orphanages, churches, and clubs where I was invited, and so on. I have made lasting friends there, who I still keep in contact with. The people I have met are from all walks of life, politicians, law enforcement, musicians, artist, doctor's, attorney's, trades people, and even members of one mafia family. I now have an adopted daughter there with a son in law and grandbaby, as well as my wife's family. I have lived there for more than four and a half years, and still continue to make somewhat regular visits to see my friends, and support my projects there. |

I have always had an interest in Russian history, language, and culture. I first travelled to Russia in the summer of 2003 to attend events for the Moscow International Film Festival, and celebration of St. Petersburg's 300th anniversary. I found the country to be very unique and interesting, and I wanted to get to know some of the people that live there. On subsequent visits, I have had the opportunity to become acquainted with some wonderful people, who I consider dear friends. I love Russian train journeys, and seeing cities other than Moscow and St. Petersburg. I still have so much more that I want to see. Many people have preconceptions about Russian people, and Russian way of life. I encourage anyone with an interest in Russia to go see this country with an open mind, and have an unforgettable experience. |

| My grandfather was an orpjan from Belarus. We were kindred spirits. In 1998 I adopted a baby boy in Russia. I believe that I have a Russian soul and am drawn to the country and its people. |

Interesting question. I am reminded of a line in the movie called the "Russian House" with Sean Connery..." I return to Russia, because I am drawn there."
For those who have never been to Russia hard to understand perhaps. For those who have traveled there, and been there often, I think this line says it all |

My coming here has to do with my interest in the people and the history of Russia. I enjoy learning about Soviet history and The Cold War. I also want to learn Russian and meet people who hold my similar interest in Russia and I thought this would be the best place to do so. And I also plan on going to Russia in a few years! |

I havent been to Russia yet, but im planning on going as soon as my boyfriend gets his U.S. Citizenship. He was born in Russia and lived there for the majority of his life, but was forced to move to the US. He recently asked me to go with him to visit, and i cant wait to go, in order to see his culture and where he grew up. Another reason im looking forward to going is to just experiance a different way of life, and the russian laguage is amazing, and im hoping that by being in Russia, I can improve my ability to speak it and learn the laugage better.

We have been in Russia twice in the last year. We went because my wife and I adopted a little Russian boy from the Bryansk region. Our second trip we were in Moscow for almost 3 weeks so we got to see a lot of the city.
We have a Russian friend who attends college in our town and his mother and aunt camr to Moscow for a week and took us around to some museums and art galleries and other sites. His parents live near Voronezh. Next time we go to Russia we plan on going to see them and stay at there home. It probably won't be for about 10 years since we want to bring Alexander with and we want him to be about 11 years old so he gets something out of the trip. In the mean time I can dream of returning. Who knows, maybe I'll strike it rich and can go sooner and often. We really did enjoy ourselves. |

Education here as well. I'm also a huge enthusiast of Soviet history as well as a history buff in general. I can't afford to live in Western or Central Europe, so the East, Russia in particular, offers a very nice alternative for those of us who have full intentions of studying and living abroad, but do not have trust funds. |
