| I need some infomation. I have a good friend who wants to travel to USA to meet me in person and have a holiday here as well. She can stay at my home and I will show her around and introduce her to my friends. She is from Archangalsk, RU. She has an Aunt that lives in Moscow. How far is Archangalsk from Moscow? I would also like to visit her in the Summer. How much money does the Embassy ask her to bring with her with a 90 Day Visa. She says $2500. I think that is too much since she'll be my guest. Also I think it would be dangerious for her to travel with that much cash. She is asking me to wire her the money. I've heard so much of women scamming men I'm sort of not sure of what to do. She sounds so nice on the phone and in her e-mails. Could she be writing others for cash as well. I am a happy married female with children. She is single. She also has the airfare but not enough travel cash. Thank you for any help you can give me. |

I smell BS.
It is VERY hard for a single woman from Russia to get a tourist visa. If it is like a Canadian Visa, she has to go through an interview. Plus here in Canada, you DO NOT GIVE money, but promiss to be accountable for her expenses while she is the USA. I maybe wrong, but I think she is BS. North America is one of the hardest places to get as a Russian. It is very hard for a single female. DO NOT SEND MONEY!!! |

| I am afraid you may be right. If we are still in touch by next summer I may travel to meet her in russia. I need to know how far is Archangelsk from Moscow. Is it hard to get to from the airport? Will I need a certain amount of cash to get into Russia? Is there anyone reading this from Archangelsk? Thank you again for your help. |

I will have to plan a longer stay since it will be an extra 2 days for traveling to and from Anrchangelsk. Thank you for your help I really will need to plan a lot more between now & next June |

Beachlass,
Yep, the Doc is correct. 22-24 hrs from Yaroslavl startion to Archangelsk. There is a daily train and a train that runs every second day. The daily leaves at 12:47 and the other at 22:27. The night train has a few more stops.
Re getting a shuttle to the Metro. Sounds simple when you have a clear non-jetlagged head. The reality is a little more difficult. The shuttle buses are like Mini Vans and charge (last time I was there) about $2-3 and dump you at the terminus of the green(?) line. You then have to buy a Metro ticket when you find the Metro.....if you stay overnight you have to get to your hotel somehow via the Metro.
Try Archangel as a search, as that is the anglicized name of Archangelsk.
Regards
Usualsuspect. |
