And the characters from Beloe Sonce Pystuni (white sun of the desert.), can't remember their names or which ones because I haven't seen it in a while...but I think it was the captain and the guy he saved that was stuck in the sand at the beginning.

And the hitman from Bourne Supremacy....he was wicked cool...although he barely talked and when he did his russian sucked...j/k he's not really a fav

I wish I could express preference, but I am not knowlegeable in this topic. I do adore the Russian cartoon charactyer Cherabushka, the one with big floppy ears! hEY, Why is this topic listed as for Cyndy and Dennis the Menace? fORGIVE ME, but I don't get the reference.

You wanted a topic that we all can post.
But your interest is more family oriented and we have many college student here that interested other things(like drinking, opposite sex and music). So I though this would be a topic that everyone would find interesting and positive.

For Humour, I like the characters in the Russian Nationalist go fishing movie. They are each a far fetch stereotype of Russian Cultural and they make fun absurdity of these silly stereotypes.

Hey Fauste, I am interested in learning about Russia, Russian people, and Russian beliefs and attitudes, specifically toward Americans and adoption. Even here in Texas, one can buy good Russian vodka and even imported beer. I see enough drunk people (or at least the aftermath of same) almost daily. A social drink is fine (and probably healthy) but when one loses control of attitudes, inhibitions, and bodily functions there is nothing good about it. The incidence of HIV, after having been slowed for a few years, is now rapidly spreading and Russia, by all accounts, is on the verge of a serious problem.
I have nothing against posts about drinking and partying but I would ask that we not let EVERY thread deteriorate to the same level. The more I have learned about Russian people, the more I find myself beginning to admire them. Most of the Russian people on this site have been unfailingly helpful and courteous. Thank you Dmitri and others for providing this avenue for dialogue. Have a hoppy holiday season, y'all. DennisF

Dennis, since you throw this off topic.
Now you have taken this topic and did the same thing. If you read above it is a thread about Russian fictional characters, not HIV, Alcohol or drugs. If you have something to say about. Please start a new thread.
Sorry Dennis, I think our conversation has end. I hope best of luck in your adoption process and I am sure that you more than worthy father.

I like to personally to ask about the characters in Brat. Besides the main character, each person was shown as weak person. I ask what the interpretation of German character in his existence in this movie.

A superb litterature. This is, in my modest opinion, the essence of the russian character. Edmund Wilson said once that everybody should read all books, except the russian litterature for one reason. When you begin to read Dostoievski, Lemontov, Tolstoi, Pushkin (my favorite), Tchekov, Pasternak, Gorky, Maiakovsky you can't read other writers. He was perfect right.

Station for two. Two main characters from this movie perfectly represent typical Russian "man-and-woman" combination. He is shy, intelligent, but unlucky and falsly convicted. She is a true Survivor. They value love and untangible things over matherial staff.

Just about anyone from the old Soviet films of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Shurik, the main characters in Ironiya Sudby, Volk and Zayets from the cartoon series "Nu Pogodi!", Dzhentlemeny Udachy, Belye Rosy etc., etc.

These characters are always basically good-hearted people and in some way show us that there are redeeming qualities in every person. Just compare the character of Volk with Coyote in the Bugs Bunny series. Volk is just a goofy hungry wolf, while Coyote has this evil streak that shows in the way he laughs while he opens up a parcel from the ACME Company.

Dzhentlemeny Udachy really shows this because the good guys in this film are escaped convicts and in the end we love them in the same way that we love the escaped convicts in the Shawshank Redemption.
