You plan to drive across Russia?? Bringing a Humvee I presume? If not, you have completely lost your mind. Completely. And then you want a ferry to Alaska?
I don't know what you all have been smoking, but it must be good. Because your grip on reality is very tenuous. Even the most fool hardy Russians wouldn't drive across Russia. I'ts almost impossible. Guess what? There aren't any convenience stores or gas stations or anything out there. Or roads.
I love peole with no sense of reality. I once saw a hitchhiker in Berkeley with a sign that read "Honolulu". He's probably still standing there waiting for his ride. You might want to get in touch with him. I think you live in the same daydream. |

| xdojinx is totally correct. There are place where there are no roads (only winter once and the most daring drivers sometimes would refuse to risk. |

Unfortunately, the last 2 replies are not accurate.
It is possible to drive from Helsinki to Valdivostock. I have seen one website describing the trip by car and the motorcycle horizons unlimited bulletin board shows that many people have done this trip.
One thing is certain: you will have to do alot of planning and research. Second, it is probably not economic to ship a car from Vladivostock to the USA as it would have to go separately from you in a 20' container as freight. Though if the car was worth enough, it could be justified.
Third, you will rapidly find out that there is a section (2,100kms) where the roads are bad and under construction. There are bridges, but most of this section is unpaved ie dirt and when it rains...
My plan is to ship my car back from Vladivostock to Moscow on the train - but then I'm not going to the USA.
Don't give up, but do some research. It won't be cheap, but it will be worthwhile.
Regards

although this was more than a decade ago, you can make out that it needs a lot of resource, financial or otherwise, to make it happen. think through it. i also read about some other team (russian-american) of bikers who crossed russia (don't have the link with me). but it's always advisable to organise such things in a larger group, for safety reasons. |

| Yes, it can be done, if you have a lot of time, planing, and the finances. I know of two people who have done it on motorcycles, and one of them was a double amputee (legs) riding a Sportster Harley during part of the Siberian winter. I made a short visit to St.Pete on one occasion to meet with a Biker Club to work out the plans for a trip like this, but sorry to say my dream didn't materialize, or rather it hasn't yet. I applaud your adventurism, but hope you don't try this alone. |
