Shipping personal effects?

I am finally off to Vladivostok to study Russian and the Far Easten State University. I will be staying in Vlad with my girlfriend for some time and I would like to ship some of my personal effects, clothes, CD's, books etc. I have consulted a number of removal companies here in the UK but I am finding it very difficult to find anyone that will ship to Easten Russia. If I may I have a couple of questions: 1. Do you know of any companies that will ship goods of this type to Vladivostok from the Uk? 2. Are there any problems I may encounter with customs etc?
