Busines visa for Australians.

Pjay Just Starting Joined: 30 Jan 2005 Posts: 1 Location: Melbourne	Posted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 10:29 am    Post subject: Busines visa for Australians. hello all i wish to visit Russia without the hassle of booking accomodation and so i thought that the 3 month busines visa was the way to go with 2 entries. I started filling out the application form for an invitation and in the must fill in section it ask for a fax number - but i don't have a fax number. Also if I am planning to get a business visa for 3 months maximum do i have to get a HIV test. I am Australian and live in Melbourne do I apply to sydney or the canberra russian consulates? Lots of questions but its complicated isn't it. I think I need the Business visa because i want to stop along the way of the trans - siberian, when i want and for as long as I want, and I am not sure I can make it all the way across russia in 30 days. My passport is actually at the consulate now as I type this! For the HIV test, I don't think you will need one as it is for visa LONGER than 3 months. For the fax, the invitation will need to be faxed back to you so perhaps you have a friend who has one? Tony

It will answer a lot of your questions. There is only one consulate for you to apply at and it is located in Sydney. Being in Melbourne and recently going through the visa process (albeit a tourist visa) on my own I am happy to help out. Also you do not need to make a hotel booking. I didn't and had no problems registering my visa while I was there. Also if you are looking for cheap flights to Moscow there is a travel agency here in Melbourne right by the Balaclava train station. It is run by a group of 4 russian ladies and they specialize on travel to the FSU. They can get you to Moscow for $1,397 which is a lot better than what you can find on the web at the moment. Also if you get your letter of invitation (which you will need to obtain your visa) they can help you fill in all the blanks. As for the fax dilemma, use your travel agents fax number. That always works. You will find it is a lot easier to complete your visa application once you have made the booking. Travel Agency is Safeway Travel by the way and they are located on carlisle street, balaclava. Not sure of their number but should be in the phone book. HIV tests are only required if you plan to stay longer than 3 months as well so you are safe with that.
