Don't get me wrong. I don't think I ever said anything that bad about your country. I poked a little fun at one of your sports. I still think the sport is silly, but so what? I commented on your country's need for hyperbole and its provincialism (Super bowl, World series). Again, not awful stuff. I haven't threatened you or your way of life. I haven't said anything bad about your country's politics, its government, its overseas misadventures, or its leaders (I don't kick a man when he is down )
I worked in the US for a few years a while back. All in all, it was one of the best experiences in my life. I think that, individually, Americans are some of the finest, most decent people in the world. I would loan one money; I know I'll get paid back. I would buy one a beer; I know he will buy me one (probably more) in return. I would ask one directions (well, ..maybe not, he is probably more lost than I am )
It's when you guys get together (like in armies, Congresses, courtrooms, sports teams, gangs) that I start to worry (and hang onto my wallet). |

Crabman,
I'm not a martyr, I was making a point. That is- I do have "thick skin" as the result of experiences that I have had in my life which are beyond the norm of most people. That has made me stronger.
I will always stand up for my principles of what I regard as just. And I think it is appalling that we have to tolerate the anti -American sentiment and comments that some posters make here. Even though you posters are a minority, you don't seem to recognize how stereoptypical and offensive your remarks are.
While I do not think that US is without faults, and Bush is one of them, it is a country where people have freedom, opportunity and a safety net, hence millions of immigrants and refuguees have come here. Believe me, the majority are glad to be here.
INwould never stoop so low to make insults and degrading comments of other countries. As a traveler it seems to me that tolerance and respect are essential qualities. Bad mouthing, and whining about other countries is disrespectful. |

| I dont really care about sports, I think we should all move on. This should be a happy, perky Russian centered board. Lets just all call a truse and move on. |

HELLO,
You don't care about sports? What is the origination of this thread?
But you do make a point. Still, there needs to be less hateful, insulting comments about USA. |

| Hey, don't know why so many replied without an answer. The superbowl will be playing at the Casino Bar Vegas. Be careful, the sign is in Russian so it may be hard to find. It is located on Maneznaya street near the circus between Sadovaya and Fontonka canal. Go to the second floor and you will find a large sports bar that shows western TV. If you make it there, look for me. My name is Gabe, I'll be there with my wife. Probably won't be too many woman watching the game so we shouldn't be hard to find. Good luck. I hope you find it. I missed the game last year but now I know about Vegas. |

I think the Pats are going to whip the Eagles' butts. Well, I like close games but I do think the Pats will win.
Kiwiguy, you don't know what you're talking about. Those Leagues in North America (mostly the States) ARE KNOWN as the top Leagues in the world. Athletes from North America STAY in North America unless there's a World Tournament, Olympics or um... a lockout. Athletes fromll over go to the North American Leagues (NBA, NHL, MLB, etc.). So your comments on the subject are totally incorrect and inaccurate. Who cares about Aussie football or the other types of football (soccer etc.)? I know those sports are fun to play, but watching them is a different story. I also don't care much for watching NBA or MLB but those are the professional Leagues for those sports.
At least, Russians are interested in hockey. |

What is it about basketball that peaks your interest? I played basketball in highschool but never got into pro or watching the NBA. I find it very boring to watch and that goes for baseball. With football, it's unique and there's a lot of strategy. Hockey, too. Have you ever seen any live games? I've seen some of both sports.
I wonder how the Russian hockey is now. With all the changes in Russia, I had the impression that the system there suffered. Russians are still gifted players but there's not the investment like there used to be. |

I wouldn't watch a full basketball game..just the last couple quarters usually.
Yeah baseball i can't stand watching....I don't see how you can compare basketball to it though in terms of action. Never tried watching football..but i don't think it would interest me especially since i wouldn't have a team to cheer for.
I've been to live hockey and basketball games a few times...and hockey ofcourse is more exciting...but basketball is ok too.

I wouldn't know about their system now but was it better before?...for example the amazing players that played in the summit series for Russia...are poor and have no fame compared to the ones that played for Canada.
Anyway, amazing players still come out of there...can't wait to see Ovechkin and Malkin to play in the NHL. |

I need a schedule of games in Moscow and SPB at the end of March?
Up to watch a game Dmitri or Camrade?
I will even take Blaked if he wants to join us to watch.
Plus it looks like I am going to go Curling or teach the sport in SPB for a day or two. Anybody know the areas in SPB to going curling. |
