I may be a western gal but respect and assertiveness are cornerstones of any good relationship. There is also however chemistry, i.e. sexual attraction, intelligence, and to some degree similar values in such things as money, family, and children. I'll leave religion and politics out of this mix but for some , religion and politics are extremely important. How about fun and enjoyment of each other and life? There has to be some common ground here.
