i have a couple of questions
1. do russians have any particular physical traits that are recognizable'

2. what are russian teens like(15-1 Cool

3. what would you say is the best way to learn russian because i would really like to learn but find it very hard to learn on my own

4. if i were to visit russia is there anything i should know, is russia a dangerous place, if so are there cities/ places that are more dangerous than others? what places?

3 - the best way to learn each language is hardwork, everyday practice and... hardwork
4 - Russia is not dangerous place if you are an adequate man and don't have intensions to mess with criminal or sell drugs or make some shit in the country. If you're just a tourist - chill out..

Keep in mind that there are very distinct generations in Russia. Many people do not change since they were in their teens (an age where most people develop their outlook in life) during a certain era. I leave it to the Russians on this board to tell you about the traits in detail. But what I observe...

Teens: just like teens everywhere in a rather globalized country. Open, fashionable and like to have fun.

Young adults: still have a little recollection of Soviet times, but grew up in the perestrika era. They may adapt to current trends (in work and play) like teens. Russia's hope lies with them.

Middle-aged: still remember how hard life can be, or maybe they were slightly better in the old days. They still can work and support themselves, but may have more conservative views. These are the ones who've seen Russia's transition from communisim to capitalism. They either grasped the concept of economy or they didn't.

Seniors: There are those who survived the war and probably very few who remember how they survived Stalin's purges. The KPRF (communist party) consists mostly of these as the majority have had better lives in Soviet times. Those without supportive families fall between the cracks. They may be resentful or be the nice granny/grandpa type that you wish were your own.
