I am coming to St Petersburg with some friends in mid-march for a visit. The last time I visited St Petersburg was 1991, it was Leningrad then, so I am expecting to see some change. Hopefully the change will not apply to the people who I found to be friendly and courteous. I would really like some tips on bars and nightlife especially where to get good Russian beer in St Petersburg? I visited Kiev a couple of years ago and drank some dark Baltika beer which was excellent I believe this is brewed locally. We are all into Pubs/Clubs with atmosphere but prefer places which are not exclusively touristy or nouveau riche. We all live in the South of England.

Hi,
With Camrade, I'll second Tinkoff beer. Also Baltika is not local, but pretty much everywhere. From memory they are numbered 0 to 9. Two No 9's (500 ml bottle) should knock your socks off........

Hoist one in my name for me! Very Happy .

Thanks for the tips and we had a wonderful time in St Petersburg, just got back. 4 days of true excitement. We went to Tinkoff and I can vouch for the Dark Beer there, superb, a sort of smokey flavour. Also liked the interior of the restaurant very industrial looking. Went to many other bars and clubs so in order to keep everybody up-to-date from a pub and places to go point a view I will start a new topic in a couple of days.
