As a person who studied in 6 schools, i think i can answer your question.

Usually school starts at 8-8.30 am and lasts until 12 pm-4pm(yes this is scary - to study 7 hours a day)
Usually they have 5 school days, Monday through friday, but some schools have 6 days. Summer is vacation time, school year starts on September 1st, and ends on last days of may.. People who are at 9th and 11th grades have exams during june. Also there are short vacations during shcool year, one week in november, two weeks on new year(december 30 - january 12-14), and one week in march. um. or april. i forgot, sorry ).

At my main two schools(i studied 6 years at one and 3 years at another) we had 16-18 different mandatory subjects: mathematics, russian language, literature, biology, geometry(trigonometry at 10&11 grades), chemistry, physics, english language(also spanish in one school.. some schools have french too), stylistics(of russian language), also one subject dedicated to Moscow and its history, a subject about russian laws, world history, russian history, psychology, economy and ecology at 10 and 11 grades.. mm what else... physical education.. music(in one school it was until 5th grade, in another it was until 8th), geography.
And you cant give up any subject, you have to have them all.. if your years grades(marks?) that you get based on your marks during year contain more than 2 worst grades(2), then you have to repeat that year, remaining in the same grade. POOR CHILDREN!!! I remember myself, coming home tired like dunno who, eating, then doing my homework until 2-3 am, then going to sleep, waking up at 7 am!! And this lasting day after day. Every day you have like 7-8 lessons, you have to do A LOT of homework. Though during last years i quit studieing that hard and became a very bad student, thats why i had to change schools Rolling Eyes
poor children. I'm so glad i finished school lol

I guess i went to good schools.. There are schools different than that.. I was a couple of months in one school where teachers didnt care how you study at all, and took bribes for grades, etc.
