Ok, lets face it, random document checks on the streets by cops on duty or just cops that want to make some money is horribly anoying. While the Constitution says you don't have to carry a passport with you all the time, spending three hours in a cell with a few drunks and drugged up prostitutes is not fun either. At the same time, it is crazy to carry a passport around, especially in my case the Russian zagranpasport (I am a Russian student residing abroad). If I lose this passport, it will take 3 months to get a new one and fly back abroad.
So here follows my question. Can I use a photocopy of my zagranpasport and show that to a Sargent Vasya Gonibabki and hope not to spend 3 hours at a station and get smacked with dubinka a few times. I also have an expired zagranpasport, should I carry that instead? I guess that student ID or driver's license would be an invitation for a bribe, and will only cause more troubles if you got no money. What should I do in order to satisfy the document check and not pay off the cop? Since I am fluent in Russian and look like Russian, then I could just say that left it at home and hope for a cop to let me go, but I have heard stories about people sitting in a cell for more than 3 hours....
Нужен совет как отделаться от мента без бабок.
