I want to travel by train from Mineralnye Vody to Moscow. On the map it looks like the train is going through a part of Ukraine. Is that right and do I need a multy entry visa to take the train from Minralnye Vody? Are there any other options?

Maybe there are different trains, but the majority do not go deep into the Ukrainian territory, just maybe 10 kilometers stretch with no stations there and do not pass customs etc. So you just have to ask when buying your ticket.

I took the train from Rostov to Moscow and passed through a small section of the Ukraine, no border post or stops. No visa required. Another route goes into Ukraine and makes stops, you would requir a visa for this route.

I have taken the train from Min Vody to Moscow five times. No Ukraine visa is needed.

Great area, get a trip to the spas or down to Elbrus if you can. There are some great coach trips to be had from Pytagorsk, which is also a great town, very cheap and friendly> My wifes family is from Min Vody so I may be a little biased
