During a trip in Russia a few year back I met a guy in a train. The two of us polished off 3 of the 500ml bottles. He was teaching me how to drink shots like a Russian. Guess I was a bit of a slow learner LOL. Not a huge fan of Vodka down here in Aussie but love the stuff they sell in Russia. Goes down very smooth. I was still keen to go after drinking 750ml of the stuff so guess I could do over the 1 litre mark in a night. Went through 6 cans of 500ml Baltika Nine at a nightclub in about 3 hours on the same trip. Lethal beer and vodka mix. Could hardly stand after that one Laughing

I dunno... I never measured it... I now prefer wine over beer, though... When (and if) I drink vodka, I drink to the point of plastered. How do you measure that?

Obviously that amount of vodka you can drink largely depends on your personal tolerance, but I've found that you can substantially increase that. Simple as, 'When in Rome', so to speak, or in this case Moscow. Russians don't get plastered on vodka, most of the time, without 'zakuski'. To 'zakusivat' is the equivalent of what US college students would say about 'chasing' their shots with a non-alcoholic drink.

Except, Russians eat. That's right. When Russians sit down to a table, they fill it with pickles, cold-cuts, bread, cheese, and various other 'snacks' that you eat before, during, and after you do your shot. This food absorbs the alcohol, and keeps you from getting knackered after 3 or 4 shots.

I've been at parties where I've been shocked to notice that I've downed almost a whole bottle of vodka all by my lonesome because I've been eating the whole time.

Russians will tell you the proper way to 'zakusivat'. It's not only tradition and culture, it's just smart.

Drink a lot of water in between to reduce the hangover effects.

Yep. It slows the rate of absorbtion. It's best to eat before and during drinking for sure. It's okay to cheat. Wink
